The Decay of The Fabric of Nature Installation
Recycled fabrics collected from op shops, friends and family form a sphere of fleshy organs.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“The Decay of The Fabric of Nature” depicts the correlation between the natural environment and its exploitation by humans. The organs depict the vitality of our Earth and how we as humans need it to survive. While the black decay and moths are expressing the strain we put on our Earth and how we are literally eating away at its resources. Through an alternate approach this work juxtaposes bodily organs with soft sculpture, made from manipulated recycled materials.  The audience is to consider the rather personally confronting notion of decaying internal organs with the demise of the planet due to climate change.

ARTWORK PROCESS

Every piece of cloth has been hand stitched to form individual organs that have been sewn together in a sphere. The sphere is suspended for viewers to appreciate at eye height.
