ARTIST STATEMENT
I encourage audiences to indulge in the nostalgic act of childhood play through stacking blocks into any composition imaginable. This interactive experience transports audiences back to their childhood, allowing them to revisit and rebuild the wonder they once experienced back into their mundane adult lives.
The blurring of lines between the transition from childhood and innocence to adulthood is communicated through using a familiar children’s toy to create an adult form, a wine glass. Colour, texture and shape have been manipulated to enhance audience’s multi-sensory experience, juxtaposing life stages.

17 individual clay Lego bricks to be built up by audiences in order to create a mundane wine glass and back down to expose colour inside. Work is accompanied by a sound piece that is the student playing 'built it up, build it higher', through tapping wine glasses with varying levels of water and distorting in sound software.
