ARTIST STATEMENT

Amongst the mundane stretches of time, we tend to forget that the joy of life is conjured by the simple, obscure moments everyday life gifts us. It is only when we realise that the most power comes from insignificance, and not exceptionality, that windows of vibrant colour and beauty can seep through our daily worlds. Layered in petal forms or exaggerated paint strokes, vivid swirls of colour flow through a supposed everyday living space. Intertwining reality and fantasy, Memorabilia allows viewers to immerse themselves into a dreamlike space where unseen beauty can be reimagined into something tangible.

ARTWORK PROCESS

Used furniture was reupholstered with hand-painted petal-like fabric forms. A framed mixed-media artwork accompanies the furniture - the audience is encouraged to remove sections of the artwork to reveal a mundane image below.

In an age where we are so immersed in the quick-paced, often superficial nature of modern-day life, it is easy to forget the beauty of the everyday nuances that surround us. It is through my art that I hope to share with others my appreciation for the often overlooked beauty that exists in simplicity. In my future, I hope to continue sharing my art through interior design.
