Memory/Connection - Femme Film/electronic imaging
This artwork is a film with a series of illustrations featured, exhibiting the female form conceptually.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is inspired by the installation works of Chihara Shiota and the paintings of John Wolsey. The female form in art has been used in a place of objectification and admiration to only please the male gaze. I challenged myself to represent the female form in a place of respect, power, and connection. Through persistent repetition and constant exposure to the same materials, creating the female form gathered a new meaning and representation challenging the modern-day view of the female form.

ARTWORK PROCESS

The process started with a confused state of mind with me trying to create the female form in a conceptual way. Inspiration finally came and drew me to the thought of connection and memory attached to the female form. I started illustrating the female form persistently over the course of 2 months. Then I featured all my favourite pieces and combined them into an installation piece. I later filmed my process and interaction with the installed representations and turned it into a short film with an ambient presence attached to it.
