Names…, echoes the daily torment and constant harassment I encountered throughout my early adolescence. Attention was primarily focused on my physical appearance and body weight. Strangers felt comfortable hurtling insults and abuse toward me, possibly unaware of the hurt and mental torture they inflicted. Inspired by the American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, this self-portrait incorporates his use of bold colours and comic book text and imagery which at first glance, may seem bright and jovial, but in fact, portrays the many anxieties I endured and had to deal with at such a young age.
