ARTIST STATEMENT
Climate change is continuously evolving and growing as time goes on; and pollution is one of the biggest causes. Fast-forward explores the irreversibility of time and the preordained end to the Earth through our continued use of unsustainable plastic. Although, we as a society are starting to change and create a positive impact to our environment; we are slowly running out of time to reverse the damage being done. Combining the concepts of time and human impact, the composition of Fast-forward displays the continuous ticking of our negative choices towards our natural world.
ARTWORK PROCESS
Created by using pine cut in round shapes as the foundation of the hour glass, with two cones of polycarbonate to represent the glass of the hourglass. Four lengths of wooden dowel was used to support the sculpture. Cut pieces of plastic bottle caps were used to fill the bottom of the hour-glass cone, whereas, whole plastic bottle caps were used to fill the top half. A stop-motion video overlays over the sculpture.
