Grus Rubicunda Painting
I painting that has used a thickening agent for the background and the traditional dot painting technique in the foreground.

ARTIST STATEMENT

The brolga has been represented as an evil character within the Indigenous Australian dreamtime story so I wanted to give it a sense of goodness. I created the bird to have its wings rise up and its body to be pale yellows and oranges to represent the sun and those colours normally mean joy and freshness. In a way, I'm giving the bird a fresh start to be a better character.

ARTWORK PROCESS

I created the bird to have its wings rise up and its body to be pale yellows and oranges to represent the sun and those colours normally mean joy and freshness. In a way, I'm giving the bird a fresh start to be a better character. I used blues for the background to represent the skies that the egg allowed to brighten up.
