My artwork - Blue Rapture – visually illustrates the all entrancing nature that the ocean abundantly supplies us with. The piece in itself was conceived through recollecting the experiences which united our grade as one; my piece aims to visually depict the blanket of inexplicable calm that shrouded our anxieties and stresses, provided by the ocean’s visual stimulation. Pooling inspiration from both Salvador Dali’s renowned surrealism and Robert Rauschenberg’s use of unconventional items to create art – using a surfboard as canvas, working with sand as a creative medium, etcetera – I was able to unite both techniques and visually represent the ocean's all-enveloping calm.
