ARTIST STATEMENT
‘Stream of Consciousness’ is an insightful experience provoking an audience to grasp an artist’s thought process within a studio installation. An impulsive gateway to an artist’s mind. Exploiting the impact of nonliteral elements. I feel a strong gravitation to the inclusion of past artworks and experiments. I see the studio itself as an artwork. Catered to a personal aesthetic, this concept of experimentation explores the vivid and complex depth of artistic process, constantly capturing every thought and mood within the frame of the mind. I despise the idea of a ‘fresh canvas’ and choose to work on used, found materials and objects.
ARTWORK PROCESS
I used a group of materials such as acrylic paint and marker pens across a broad range of used repurposed surfaces. Within the process of making I would work on one painting until I felt that I had done enough, start something else, then returned to work on the previous artwork and repeated this process based on my "artistic flow". The artworks are then synthesised by implementing similar symbols and linework. The personal element of my studio installation allows the audience to explore each detail, absorbing my thoughts and process, as if they are standing in my studio.
