ARTIST STATEMENT

Night Fall Mt Isa :- Photographic Diptych #1 Rainy Eve Mt Isa On a rainy night in Mt Isa the road becomes an oily slick, representing a mysterious view of industry. Using Bokeh as the photographic technique the lights of the mine are blurred, asking the viewer to explore the unnamed or unknown. # 2 Through the looking Glass Taken through a glass dome is about surprising new ways of seeing a place at night, I aim to use new ways of viewing the places we know this gives an almost a Surrealistic quality to my work.

ARTWORK PROCESS

A journey of photography in Mt Isa at night to explore ways I could take photographs using 2 different processes to show an unexpected view of Mt Isa. Series “Night Fall Mt Isa” is a diptych showing photographic works from a series on viewing places in different ways. I want the viewer to see an unexpected view of places and surrounds they believe they know of and just shift their thinking a little.
