ARTIST STATEMENT
‘Reef’ is a wall installation of individually poured resin sculptures inspired by the beauty of our natural wonder- The Great Barrier Reef. In various scale, these sculptures are arranged to invoke a serene atmosphere with a mix of organic and geometric shapes, mimicking that of a coral reef. My body of work aims to remind viewers of the impact of coral bleaching and our precious marine life increasingly diminishing due to global warming and invasive species such as the crown of thorns starfish. The reflection from each organic form gives the illusion of light refraction from the ocean floor placing emphasis on each object.
ARTWORK PROCESS
2-part epoxy resin mixed with pigments then poured onto PVC plastic to create organic shapes and then modelled to create organic forms.
