Masked Identity Print
Two large scale digital prints on archival paper - hung side by side as a diptych.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Masked Identity explores the concept of the LGBTQ+ community and hidden individuality. I aimed to illustrate the impact of fully concealing and removing the figure’s faces from the viewer’s perspective by the usage of two similar but different moths. I hope this work will illustrate the contrast of coming to terms with one's own situation and the link to serious social issues. The rainbow moth with a fabric background is a symbol of the fragility of society and the impact minorities can have as a group. The bleeding moth demonstrates the harm of change and having to hide oneself due to social pressures.
