ARTIST STATEMENT
“Intertwining’s of Fate” conveys the idea of human relationships over the passing of time. The past, present and future is represented in the three painted hands while the drawn hands represent myself. These hands are connected by different coloured embroidery threads woven into the canvas, representing the idea of coming and going and their strengths. Each thread leads to a price tag with individual names written on them, representing how each relationship has a price. It focuses on the formal idea of bonds we share with people and how they affect us throughout our past, present, and future.
ARTWORK PROCESS
The hands were referenced and drawn in pencil on the canvas, the background and time hands were painted, the threads were embroidered onto the canvas, a list of individuals were created for the tags, the tags were cut out and drawn on, the tags were tied to the hanging embroidery threads.
