Upon developing the rough concept of what would eventually become The Clamp, I quickly realised that such a project would prove too abstract for an ordinary assessment piece. With this in mind, I shelved the idea and over the length of a year made gradual refinements to produce what I would consider to be my most cohesive film to date. During this time, I consumed a wide range of media across many genres and movements of film; a process that became fundamental to developing my style.
