ARTIST STATEMENT
This digitally manipulated artwork explores the negative emotions that can be associated with social platforms. Visual symbol imagery explores negative communications associated with social media. The figures have been positioned to express the damaging effects that social networking platforms have. Their facial expressions show their emotional reaction to the damage and unforeseen future. As humans we have access to increased social communication and connections. Simplistic line drawings were used to emphasise the emotions of the models and add visual metaphors, not to overpower the models expressions, but to contrast with them. Emotions were dramatised with dark tones, opacity and layers.
ARTWORK PROCESS
The process of creating this Digital Manipulation artwork was to firstly take the photographs. This was done by submerging the models in a bath of water and adding different items and objects, as well as colours to create the emotional effect. Secondly, the best photos were selected, imported into Photoshop and digitally manipulated into the final design.
