ARTIST STATEMENT
The Taking is a sculptural installation communicating the great amount of resources humans take from nature that are not ours to take, demonstrating our self-appointed superiority. Human bodies are displayed with different animals’ heads, creating hybrid creatures that tie nature’s downfall to our own. The cradle positions used symbolises caring and nurturing of our human-young; animals care for us and nurture our health from tiny infants, while we take from them with a sense of entitlement supplies designed for their own youth.
