ARTIST STATEMENT
The concept for ‘Modernised mythology’ was drawn from the question how does an artist’s personal or spiritual beliefs influence their artworks meaning. For this piece I focused on other people’s beliefs and perspectives in an attempt to broaden my body of work. Modernised mythology is based on the belief in mythological creatures, with each creature created being mainly accurate to the description from the myths: one Cyclops, Dryad and Erchitu. My intention for this collection was to bring to life and apply visuals to the myths. Katherine Murry and her experimentation with media were also great inspiration for this body of work.
