To Breathe is to Love Installation
Installation of three painted canvases with yarn pooling around wrapped sculptures.

ARTIST STATEMENT

‘To breathe is to love’ was born from the love I get when I make other people feel appreciated. This work was inspired by the merriment that I experience when interacting with friends. This non-objective self-portrait symbolises my connection to others; it explores these platonic connections through morphed shapes and colours. Every thought and action I take is about love, the love I have for others, and my love for myself. It is natural for humans to seek and find connections, to feel wanted and appreciated is a core human trait. The wool is a comforting surface that is a visualisation of a hug between

ARTWORK PROCESS

The paintings are each primary colour depicting similar abstract shapes, yarn corresponding to each canvas have been sewn through the horizon line and fall down to cradle the two plaster sculptures. These flowing sculptures are wrapped in multi-coloured yarn, creating a soft and inviting texture.
