Series of nine digitally modified portrait photographs with burn effect on two images.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Humans. An encompassment of experiences. Stories are shared; we call them memories. We retain information to recall it at any moment. However, the continuation of ageing presents repercussions and fading memories. I strive to draw attention to what memories can look like if personified, and what they feel like when fading. The fragile nature of expressions displays the humbling experiences of memories. Burnt portions represent how others can affect what we perceive as memories, the chaos of digitally altered images seeps through contrastingly. In the madness of ‘Recollection’, there’s a sense of peace, however, a question is evoked. How are memories hindered?

ARTWORK PROCESS

Self-portrait photographs were digitally dissected, montaged, bleached and burnt with a heat gun.
