ARTIST STATEMENT
Purity explores the idea of liberating women while also outlining the struggles woman are faced with every day. My artwork explores the contemporary context of society’s critiques towards the body, in particular the female body. My artwork, Purity, dives in and focuses on the complexities which are women's bodies and the way in which society has created many internal battles for women over the years. My artwork is about a journey through woman hood and what impacts society has made on women through a contemporary display. ARTWORK PROCESS
Purity was created through the building of layers of acrylic paint applied to a stretched canvas substrate. the image was initially sketched onto the canvas and then the paint was a applied. While the colour scheme is realistic, the saturation of the colours has been amplified to convey a sense of vibrancy and intensity to match the confronting subject matter.
