ARTIST STATEMENT

One After the Other communicates the issue of innocent deaths as a result of war and national conflict, using identifiable themes to emotionally confront the audience. The reoccurring theme of death can be observed throughout the film, through the events, and the physical representations of graves. This is a constant reminder of the devastations of war and how these conflicts can affect innocent families. This film is intended to provoke strong emotion from the audience to deliver the message in a way that will spread awareness and inspire empathy relating to this very relevant world issue.

ARTWORK PROCESS

The frames were shot using an iPhone camera. Each scene was designed using general household objects and rubbish (such as ceramic tiles, foil, and cardboard etc) to communicate the idea of childlike creation. The footage was then edited to black and white to enhance the sense of grief and unhappiness throughout the film.
