ARTIST STATEMENT
My series, 'The Three Stages of a Magpie’s Story With The Manufactured World' depicts the Australian magpie as a representation of the natural world and what this goes through. The contemporary context used is about the environmental issue of burning coal causing global warming. The formal context was shown with how I coloured the magpies, textural smoke and general composition. The series was created with acrylic paint with various painting techniques were used.
ARTWORK PROCESS
I first sketched the design onto the canvases with a red chalk pastel so that it can be easily painted over. Then I painted over it with acrylic paint and posca pens to finish it.
