Societally, women struggle with the expectations and pressure of conforming to a beauty standard placed upon them. Using cosmetics, surgeries and restricting garments, women try to live up to these expectations. My work “Ripping of the Bandage”(2022) focuses on this issue, working in a contemporary context through its criticism of societies views. While viewing this work, ask yourself, is your version of beauty worth this price? Are your standards ethical?
