Childhood Memories Drawing
Graphite and led on paper

ARTIST STATEMENT

My artwork portrays nostalgia through the relationship with my childhood memories. I focused on my early childhood as a baby to a toddler with three pieces to symbolise my favourite memories. A memory I personally find most nostalgic is the photo of me and my dad. I have chosen black and white to represent the past using elements to make it look smooth, dull and shaded. The artworks symbolise the memories that I have created and how they represent me as a person now. Through this body of work I aimed to evoke a sense of nostalgia to audiences.

ARTWORK PROCESS

The process of my artwork involved the choosing of photos I wanted to express. I then furtherly printed out the photos as a guide and to assist the outlining of my art to portray a realism theme. I outlined each photo in graphite paper then added shading and contrasting to enhance the theme of nostalgia.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ella Freeman

As a student artist I am passionate about art and continually conveying new perceptions. I wish to experience and romanticise the mundane aspects of life that cannot be achieved in my rural town. My art portrays different moments to illustrate and describe the person I am and have grown into since the beginning of my journey as an artist.
