ARTIST STATEMENT
‘Blended Displacements’ is a series of alternate paintings on acetate that depict how human selfishness and the displacement of objects impact the environment. The individual landscapes are illustrations of a diverse range of physical environments that combine to form a single, new environment.
We take our environment for granted, we pollute, we ignore. We need to recognise the layers that make up our surroundings and start to read between the pages. Let’s rearrange it, shift from our comfort zone, and pay more attention. Does it make you think differently about your environment when there are displaced parts?
ARTWORK PROCESS
Developed from encounters of discarded/displaced objects in daily life. I first noticed a baby's pacifier in a japanese garden and this lead to reflection of human actions that then juxtapose scenes in our physical environments.
