Connection Photograph
Two photographic prints, framed

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a proud Indigenous and South Sea Islander woman; I have little knowledge of my language group, so I used my art to show that I am still connected to my people through land, water, and air. The artwork created consists of photos of my family members, my older brother and my sister. These photos were taken during the Easter holidays and were manipulated with modern interpretations of indigenous symbols to create a design to display that there is still a long living connection between the indigenous people and their ancestral land.

ARTWORK PROCESS

Photographs taken on location, paint pens applied over the printed image
