ARTIST STATEMENT
Society’s digital evolution changed my view on how personal worlds evolve. Juxtaposition of bright colour and loud sound reference personal adaptations which occurred when moving from the rural environment into which I was born to urban life. The sequencing from unease to tension and then release is a narrative by which society functions as a system. The different cinematographic environments, luminescent colours and immersive sounds freely available from the website, https://mixkit.co/, overwhelm the audience into an unfamiliar expanse; however, it is familiar to me. My work prompts the question: in what way do we perceive our own worlds?
ARTWORK PROCESS
Artist used ‘Blender’ to experiment with modelling (digital mesh), rigging (structural bones to the mesh), and animation (keyframing the rigs). Innovative use of digital software to manipulate colour and lighting to form depth. Implementation of camera angles, prerecorded sounds, and static visual effects that distort and transition between different frames. Multiple layers of diffusion lighting had to be rendered to create a fog which could allow subsurface scattering (mathematical principles were applied). Experimenting with background and foreground forms – altering the audience perception of gravity throughout the video
