ARTIST STATEMENT
No being has a greater influence on the world as us, humanity, acting mainly on our own accord for personal endeavours, wants and desires. And no one quite takes the brunt of our indulgence, much like our wild neighbours; the animals that surround us. “Beast’s God” is an artwork that explores the impact of human ignorance on the other inhabitants of the world, through mixed media. Confronting how we hold ourselves to a God-like persona; being well-aware of our range and level of effect, reaching out with our billions of arms- yet still, oblivious to our abuse.
ARTWORK PROCESS
To make the two main subject matters distinct from each other, the beasts are a medium: graphite, and therefore, black, and white, going against the strong colouration of the human.
The artwork is intended to blend into the black wall it is hanged on, making the figures seem as though they are reaching outward from the wall towards the viewer. To emphasise this appearance, some items of the artwork are raised from the main canvas, using cardboard.
