The prompt for this artwork was ‘metamorphosis’ - either turning something considered ugly into something beautiful or making something beautiful ugly. I have chosen the former, and after twisting wire into thorns, I took photos of them in a dark room to experiment with light. Thorns are usually considered to be an ugly or dangerous plant, but through my experimentations, I found ways to show a different side of them. To showcase the images, I created a video using the website Canva, which allowed me to add filters, other free videos and piano music to my work. Colour, movement and symmetry create calmness.
