Art can encourage us to question our past and reveal to us unspoken history. In Australia, we have a history of covering up our past – the horrific ways in which Indigenous Australians have been treated. Fascinated by Australian native plants, I have decided to expand my work to native Australia and its loss of culture due to British colonisation. As a young and proud Australian living on Gubbi Gubbi land, I wish to see true reconciliation between non-Indigenous and Indigenous Australians. The immense grief and deep sorrow felt by Indigenous Australians because of dispossession is devastating and deserves more acknowledgment and reconciliation.
