Exponential Painting
Reconceptualised triptych - Acrylic on Canvas

ARTIST STATEMENT

Exponential explores the notion of ‘Special Theory of Relativity’. Einstein determined that time is relative, not linear. In other words, “the rate at which time passes depends on your frame of reference”. This reconceptualised triptych uses visual distortion to resemble an abstraction of time. The sense of movement is manipulated and played with by the obvious direction changes of the artworks flow. The string figuratively connects to the tow rope, almost metaphorically. Its placement looks to follow lines and formed edges, mimicking the path one follows after stepping off the vessel with a disrupted proprioception.

ARTWORK PROCESS

Using photographic and painting processes a distorted melding of imagery and colour spiral and blur the 3 narrative images to create a reconceptualised triptych.
