ARTIST STATEMENT
A Painful Memory explores the concept of loss in our natural environments, caused by plastic pollution. The focus of the work illustrates the impact of our neglect, depicting the bleaching of coral reefs that should be teeming with life. The loss of these beautiful habitats is represented by the shadows cast in the silhouette of a coral shelf. As a society, we must stop endangering our world, and take responsibility for our carbon footprint.
ARTWORK PROCESS
A Painful Memory is a mixed media piece combining a reef shelf constructed from recycled plastics, with a film projection interrupted by a reef silhouette.
