Family Dinner Photograph
Series of photographic images in frames x 5

ARTIST STATEMENT

Family dinner represents the reality of gender roles through five photographs. Influenced by the works of Carrie Mae Weems, the photographs imitate candid moments of a family dinner, and the setting is unsettling rather than inviting. These mid shots illustrate a women’s role at home and captures her vulnerability through the disturbing eye contact with the audience. However, the husband is present in two frames, yet his presence remains throughout the whole piece, as she still continues her role even without him. These characters are portrayed by one person, highlighting the significant differences of gender roles through mere body language. The formal elements influenced.
