ARTIST STATEMENT
This work depicts the Mackay Town Hall as a celebrated landmark. Each town has its own 'town hall' and its purpose is to serve the citizens of that town. I wanted my work to be a tribute to the diverse nature of the Mackay population where cane, coal, cattle and coral bring people together in one place to form the community which is Mackay.
ARTWORK PROCESS
'Mackay Town Hall' has been painted using layering techniques, vibrant colours and energetic mark making. My goal when creating this work was to create a lively painting which evokes feelings of joy in those who view the work.
