ARTIST STATEMENT

This artwork represents the aftermath from my first artwork, as I escape from an unstable mentality into a content state. Fantasy and reality being against each other, opposes on the versus, meaning the two themes are not deceiving. Reality is contentious and chill, as if the weight of stress had been lifted off my shoulders, allowing me to drift into my fantasy world safely. This artwork is made up of two parts; the canvas, and the wings. I chose a sunset as the background to depict the ending of dark motives and the angel wings feel loose and air born.

ARTWORK PROCESS

My artwork, Thy Wings Shall Soar, has two parts, Sunset, and Angel Wings. This technique is referred to as a diptych, and both pieces form into one composition. Sunset was created using only acrylic paint, whereas Angel Wings used practical materials; cane, butcher’s paper and tissue paper, and spray painted at the tips. This artwork personally is an aftermath of a previous artwork, with this depicting freedom and content after the artist went through unstable mentality. The artwork contrasts to a classic clashing theme, fantasy versus reality, meaning all that one can vision is never what it seems.
