ARTIST STATEMENT

Our depleting environment is entangled by reckless daily decisions. Let us make a positive impact on the vast wonders of the wavering world. Push forward as every step forward is closer to a better future. We need more than two hands; one is not enough. We must move forward together. Artificial creation of organic plants and garden, sit within a rusty unmovable wheelbarrow, constricted in one place. Our reflection in mirrors reveals our contribution to delicate organisms and real plants. We need to move beyond our static point and be the future solution to make life in our environment great.

ARTWORK PROCESS

To provoke the audience to ask questions and consider the impact we have on our surrounding environment by using repurposed plastics and objects in an alternative way. Manipulation of a vessel (wheelbarrow) to show physical and metaphorical movement and to encourage the viewer to reflect on the contemporary issues surrounding our suffering natural environment. Experimenting with organic forms and shapes from discarded manmade objects such as plastic pots and CD’s. Artificially created plants that have withered away, made from bending rust structure of wire that resembles plant forms. The overexaggerated colourful plastic flowers represent our idealised manufactured garden.
