ARTIST STATEMENT
Windows to the Soul is a spiritual and meaningful take on the world. The eyes represent the vast amount of people that I surround myself with everyday and how they contribute to my view on the world. The abstract shapes and swirls riddled throughout this collection represent my ever changing and unique view on the world around me both in a physical and visual sense. The wild choice of colours paired with the eyes and abstract approach shapes my view on the world; messy and unstable yet, in a strange way structured altogether perfect and imperfect.
ARTWORK PROCESS
I drew my abstract pencil images, coloured with oil pastel and then painted with acrylic paint. I then photographed each piece and projected them onto a white curtain. I wore white clothing and performed in front of the images projected while being filmed from various angles. I then compiled the videos to create a video presentation. After this, I photocopied my works, collaged them onto a large canvas and reworked into them with posca pens and re-projected my video over the top to help further portray the meaning.
