Living Podiums explores how light creates life. Inspired by contemporary artists Renata Busziak and Jamie North, Living podiums was created using layered concrete and bright acrylic paint. Cave systems form in the concrete as the paint organically wraps around the confines of the cylindrical sculptures. The surface is made to feel alive, replicating organic natural matter such as mould or algae through the use of uneven texture, tone and vibrant colour. This creates a powerful image for the viewer, drawing on the energy and power created from the light that dances around on the surface of each sculpture.
