ARTIST STATEMENT
Time has such an impact on our lives. It dictates when we wake up, when we grow up, and when we change. Many believe in fate, but there’s also a transformation that comes from within that takes time, as represented by the back and forth clock. Dramatism and symbolism are emphasised through colours used. Illustrated in time with the music, the events occurring on screen are a glorified depiction of someone’s ‘inner demon’ hidden within. Not only can it be terrifying for onlookers to witness, but the uncanny feeling that the fading out eyes still belong to the ‘demon’.
ARTWORK PROCESS
Originally, I had planned to do an abstract work that included more shapes rather than ‘real’ figures. However, as I kept listening to the music over and over, my perceptions of the original plan changed. I began storyboarding and immediately immersed myself with the project. It was my first time working with Photoshop as an animation software, but as I kept using it I felt more comfortable. Previous techniques I’ve used with digital art have been implemented in the final project, such as hatching, using the mirror tool, use of layers and opacity.
