ARTIST STATEMENT
Dreams are a construct of fragmented thought, an interweaving of deep-rooted memory and emotion, a series of visions, relayed by firing neurons – for two hours each night. Unconscious fragmentation escorts the viewer on a journey comprised of fantasy, imagination, and cosmos – a composition constructed by recounting of dreams. Deriving from my archived memories, I’ve poured unconscious thought into all spaces of this dreamscape, trusting all artistic compulsions brought to me through the familiar process of fine line. Each narrative appears paused – yet encased – in a flow of circular patterns, as if my fluid stream of consciousness were documented in varying moments.
ARTWORK PROCESS
‘Unconscious Fragmentation’ compiles fragmented narratives and representations of unconscious thought processes. Each component was unified through repetitive mark making and tonal applications of charcoal to achieve a cohesive, stream of consciousness drawing across three adjacent panels.
