ARTWORK DETAILS

Jazmyn Von Dohren
VYVANSE Film/electronic imaging
A collection of cinematography, foley and graphic titles presented as a five-minute short film.

ARTIST STATEMENT

The surrealist film ‘VYVANSE’ explores Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) representations. The film manipulates and challenges the social issues of intentional self-social isolation, forcing a severe lack of self-acquiescence within one’s identity. The title derives from the medical prescription Lisdexamfetamine — a stimulant prescribed to ADHD patients. Through the aberration of experimentation with visual effects and paraphernalia, the film conveys an exaggerated perspective of the side effects of ADHD medicine.

ARTWORK PROCESS

The artwork process initiated with writing a treatment in which metaphors and visual imagery were used as an influence for original cinematography. To create this work, I filmed a series of raw footage using a Canon 77D camera, tripod, shoulder rig, smoke machine and LED lights. Adobe Premiere Pro was used to synthesise raw footage and foley to construct the final product.
