Installation with printed digital image, shelf and wax forms.

ARTIST STATEMENT

The towering structures and complex systems of the Daintree seem to be dominated by wild curves and tangles but, even in this protected space, human interference is everywhere. Geometric lines, grids and cubes replicate the built environment and the infrastructure of roads, wiring and paving edging in to this space. Artefacts from the natural and built environment are protected within uniform cubes and re-formed into a sanitized, recorded and built forest, reflecting our well-meaning interference in preserving and studying this World Heritage area.

ARTWORK PROCESS

Student cast wax forms containing artificial versions of natural objects, photographed these and arranged the images in Photoshop into a geometric grid. The printed image and cast forms are displayed side by side.
