Journey beyond mind Installation
Installation with concrete-dipped clothes and projected time-based clip.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Remember a specific time from your childhood or a fond memory. Can you visualise its colours, smells and sounds? What were you wearing? What were you doing? Impermanence of memory eradicates and strips human memory and imagination to its core. Dusty and washed-out artefacts of a person’s lived experience create stand-alone figures. Juxtaposed onto this eradicated surface is a time-based projection revealing a sanitized version of a life, lived. Witness the vulnerability we all feel trying to grasp onto information of a life remembered, imagined and forgotten.

ARTWORK PROCESS

Student dipped clothes, as an artefact of identity and memory, in concrete and plaster to obliterate their features and make them lifeless. Student then filmed their owner in the style of an avatar and projected this onto this blank surface of the artefacts.
