ARTIST STATEMENT

The things we find comfort in can often be destructive in some form. This thing eventually becomes something we depend on, and it has the potential to consume us. For me, its art. It consumes me, and has the potential to be destructive by nature, passing minutes when it only felt like seconds, passing hours when it only felt like minutes. The main characters in my art also experience such desire and obsession. The gothic atmosphere, created with ink to illustrate the scenes, foam core board and warm lights. The use of lights created subtle colour, in her world of black and white.

ARTWORK PROCESS

The student has built this work in meticulous detail and highly personal meaning. The palette is neutral with subtle nuances of gold where the light illuminates the darkness in significant areas. The piece has a gothic atmosphere, the artist used ink to illustrate the scenes, foam core board used for partitions and lights. The usage of lights also created a sense of ‘hope’ and colour in a world of black and white.
