ARTIST STATEMENT
Delving into the spiritual connections of the land I was intrigued by Aboriginal perspectives of “The Dreaming”. My work explores my own connection with my identity and the land. The intertwining of my dreams and spirituality has intrigued me to explore the illusions of my reality. This digital diptych and art film unravel moments in time creating an atmosphere where dreams are never forgotten. Each work portrays a scene of a female figure eerily treading against the water, the piece displays no sense of direction denoting the nature of dreams. She tells her own story.
ARTWORK PROCESS
The work was a part of an authentic experience that began at the Coombabah Wetlands. I submerged myself in the murky waters and embraced the spiritual connection of the environment through photography and film. I became one with the land and the self discovery, alignment with land and Indigenous culture of the Dreamtime is expressed. No pathway, she writes her own story to discover her spiritual self. The murky water acts as an unclear pathway of discovery. Contrasted by the figure treading against the water, holding her stance of determination to find one's true self.
