ARTIST STATEMENT

My Artwork adapts to different styles and techniques in order to depict how a person’s emotions fluctuate and how they disassociate from reality. The concepts and visuals are all inspired and adhere to formal, contemporary, and personal contexts. In the hopes that the audience can extrapolate this to fit their own experiences. This enabled me to explore new knowledge in technology and media through the perspective of today’s culture and let viewers enter a field of a “clean” world that has been disturbed by a flawed reflection of the self in shifting situations.

ARTWORK PROCESS

I first began by experimenting and making sketches to learn more about unexplored media. With the limitless creative freedom, I was unsure of what to accomplish or where to begin. I narrowed down the finest options after considering a tonne of others. Instead of combining all three into one, I chose to categorise them separately. It also suited my objective of learning how artists express themselves as their processes, environments, and emotions change through the creation process. The finished artworks were printed onto a canvas, fitted to a unique frame, and hung to display the finished product.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hayley Sullivan

Growing up with the freedom and support to express myself however I liked, I was able to see the world differently and experience the world through my own lens. During my adolescence years, I felt a loss of what the future holds for me and I still do. However, through my artwork and exploring different styles, techniques and practices, I have been given a chance to understand other people and how they take charge of their own lives. Only 17 and a senior in high school, I have a long journey ahead of me that will be filled with mystery.
