ARTIST STATEMENT
Here in the Garden, 2022 is an abstract depiction of memory and nostalgia. Taking inspiration from natural forms at Roma Street Parklands, the piece ponders the natural and landscaped wonderland. The work reflects time spent in the man-made environment with friends, practicing mindfulness: meandering and wandering. Forms and colours shift in hue and shape to represent the emotions tied to each moment. The memories of this occasion and artistic influences including, Jacqueline Scotcher, and psychedelic creations by Tanya Shultz have been synthesized to create this piece.
ARTWORK PROCESS
Here in the Garden explores organic forms of felt, washed in a machine to produce unexpected outcomes that link to my experience in nature. These forms are juxtaposed with a 2D image to explore space and depth.
