Beauty and Destruction Installation
‘Beauty and Destruction’ is an installation that represents the sea environment, its inhabitants as well the destruction of it.

ARTIST STATEMENT

The title of the artwork, ‘Beauty and Destruction’, is represented through the environment and the inhabitants as well as the people who cause the destruction. The use of watercolour represents how over time, sea life (reefs, beaches, etc.) is slowly decaying. I have included other materials, such as toys and plants, to better show the pollution being created by people and how it can negatively affect life around them.

ARTWORK PROCESS

I created the artwork by digitally printing on lazatran after using watercolour and pen to create my sea environments. The lazatran prints were then carefully placed onto the each of the four aquarium faces. Small objects and materials, such as sand, toys and other handmade items, were then placed inside the object to show how sea and sea life is effected in today’s society.
