ARTIST STATEMENT

In 2050 there more humans but less humanity, more concrete but less stability. As climate consequences thaw, sinking cities are drowned by floods; surrounded by water but nothing to drink. The poisoned air stings eyes and blackens lungs, a fate not many can survive. We don’t have the time nor money nor resources to build or make new; reduce, reuse, recycle becomes very familiar. The strong-willed sift through piles of non-biodegradables left as gifts from the past, and fashion them into homemade protection from the elements. We used to have lush forests, clean air, clean water and most importantly, we had time. We could have swapped coal for solar, cars for bikes and single-use for reusable but instead we chose money, convenience, greed and selfishness. We chose this, and it’s too late to turn back.
