You stand back and blink. You realise a flaw, before picking up the brush once again. As it were clay, you mould and perfect. You watch it grow and transform. Without realising, you have birthed something beautiful and unique. Like a mother would a child. An artist, in a sense, undergoes similar emotional duress. The stages. The pressure. The excitement towards the impending finality. I couldn’t help but make a connection between both these journeys. ‘Carry you’ explores my constant need to 'perfect': my unconscious way of 'mothering'. The artworks ultimately was my symbolic ‘child’ that I nurtured and birthed.
